New pc9

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I just came across a deal I thought was too good to be true. I purchased a Sony PC 9 for 300 bucks. It is in perfect condition, only used once time and never in the air. It is in PAL format though.

I am a new skydiver (200 jumps or so) and figure even though im looking to learn to shoot video, or screw around and video some friends, im not going to be making movies).

do you think the deal was ok? is there any decent ways to convert it?

thanks

Personally, no. PC9's are at least 3 years old, as they haven't been sold new in that long at least. For an extra hundred bucks, you could have a brand new TRV-22 out of the box with support.

The short answer is No. PAL cameras essentially only work with PAL tv's, and NTSC essentially only work with NTSC TV's. There are a very few TV sets or VCR's that can handle both, but those are rare.

They're not rare, they're pricey.

I think the biggest question is, is he happy with it? If he's happy with it and it does what he wants it to do, then yes it was a good deal. You can still firewire the footage to a computer and convert it to NTSC or just compress it down to a fun format and distribute via da 'net.
