PhreeZone 20 #2 December 31, 2003 Why not just use the free Microsoft encoder?Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
blazetailman 0 #3 January 1, 2004 I'm still using Cleaner 5. It's been one of the best if not the best encoder for many different formats. I would recommend using it, I personall export my finished project out of preneire as a avi at full dv resolution and then pump it through cleaner. The full version has great batch processing capablities so you can set one or more files up at differnet encoding if you want. Great software. Are you using it as a stand alone program or throgh premeire.www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
videointhesky 0 #4 January 2, 2004 I'm using the stand alone version of Cleaner XL If you have any hot tips for streaming QuickTime, Windows Media Player 9, Real Player, MEPG I'm all ears. For editing I use the VT3 (Video Toaster 3) I have used Cleaner XL to encode 2 windows media player 9 files 56k & 250K from a DV Video Type 2 Full size 720x480 audio and video ( 56k http://freefall-video.com/windows%20streaming%2056k.htm ) (250k http://freefall-video.com/windows%20streaming%20Hi%20Speed.htm ) Next I will work on encoding QuickTime Thanks for any help or advice
slayer21016 2 #5 January 6, 2004 I'm using Cleaner 6 for my web site but your question has allot of different answers. i compress for broadband only i would rather have a good looking video for a few than have a crappy looking video for all and i have 500 MB's of web space so i can make my videos larger. my (Quick Time) target data rate is 120-150 KBytes per second or 10 MB's per minute with a keyframe every 15 frames but to make the video look better i might have to go to a higher data rate. if you use allot of effects (like color correcting which i use allot due to the cheaper Mini-DV cams i use) and transitions you'll have to go to higher data rates to maintain quality but in the end who you wish to cater to will dictate how you compress and i've found Cleaners presets are pretty good. videointhesky 0 #6 January 6, 2004 Scott Thanks for your reply & advice about Cleaner. You make a very good point about having a good looking video vs a crappy looking one. My web site space is only 250mb's, maybe it is time to shop around for a new web site host. Thanks again
