indyz 1 #1 January 22, 2004 I'm making good progress on getting my first camera helmet together. I have a PC105 side mounted on a Hawkeye. I want to put the camera on a quick release instead of just using a bolt up through the bottom of the L bracket. The plate is about 3" long and 2.5" wide, and the bolt hole is located 7/8" from the back of the bracket and 7/8" in from the outside (see the attached diagram if this is confusing). Is there any quick release on the market that will allow me to mount the camera in the same position? I've been looking around at B&H, but I'm pretty much just confusing myself. Take a screw that fits the cam tripod socket, a water bottle cap and some epoxy. Cut a hole in the cap, pass the screw/bolt thru, and fill with epoxy et voila you have a screw that you can tighten etc with your fingers. If you want to get real smart you can put a locator dowel on the mounting plate to solve any alignment concerns.-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. diablopilot 2 #3 January 22, 2004 Most hardware stores have the hex head nut and press fit knob to make a tripod screw. Nust should coat about 5 cents and the knob about 8 cents. I've got a dozen.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
