airbath 0 #1 February 19, 2004 how long dose your dz take to get a video done and to the customer? and why? what type of editing do you use? thanks mike
PhreeZone 20 #2 February 19, 2004 Unless there are just so many videos waiting that it looks like there is no way to even shoot all them, all the videographers hand a fully edited tape over to their customer before they get their next jump usually at my DZ. We edit usually as we record with fades and transitions on camera. During playback we add in music and slo-motion. Usually the finished produst is about 12-14 minutes in length and includes the intro, gear up, some shots of around the DZ, walk out to the plane, take off, climb up shots, interview in plane, skydive in slo-motion, 10-15 seconds canopy flight, videographers landing, student under canopy, student landing, post jump interview and fade to black. Then we replay the skydive at full speed again.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
AndyMan 7 #3 February 19, 2004 In 90% of the cases, the customer has their video about 15 minutes after their jump. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
Deuce 1 #4 February 19, 2004 We have a dedicated linear editor who does all of our videos. He or she gets them done in about 15 minutes. Pretty much the same deal as Phree, but with still screen grabs that a linear board lets you do. Most of what we are doing now is DVD, and about half of what we are doing is digital stills on the stills side. So, they're leaving with a DVD and a CD within an hour of their jump at the max. Usually about 15 minutes, and they enjoy watching the dubbing process. JP
dsbbreck 0 #5 February 23, 2004 I voted "when we get to it" for this reason: We try and edit the video immediately so that the student can take the video home with them. This isn't always possible due to too few videographers and too much work on busy weekends. All the videos are edited before the videographers go home for the day and the student always has the ability to pick it up at the end of the day, but sometimes they opt to just have it mailed out to them.David "Socrates wasn't killed because he had the answer.......he was killed because he asked the question."
