clint 1 #1 February 22, 2004 I just bought the Panasonic E60 and I need to buy some DVD-R's.They told me: We recommend using Panasonic, Pioneer, and TDK 4.7 GB, general media DVD-R disc in the DMRE60. They say other discs may not perform as correctly? Well, they are expensive. I need to buy in bulk and I'm scared to buy the wrong ones. I saw a bunch of DVD-R's for like .69cents upto 1.40. Shop4Tech.com Do I want the cartridge type or non-cartridge type? Question is can I use any DVD-R's? Does it really matter what DVD-R disc I buy? Of course I dont' want the cheapest one but not the most expensive. Cojones, you have sony what do you use? You have alot of experience so what do you recommend? I decided to put the labels on the DVD case. What do you all recommend?Clint MacBeth Skydive Moab 435 259 JUMP M.O.A.B. Cacophony 0 #2 February 22, 2004 Well, I use Maxell Plus DVD-R discs. They are really good, however, I am a firm believer that putting labels on DVDs is a HUGE MISTAKE!!! As long as you just put them in the jewel cases its cool, but if you really want me to explain my reasoning then I'll be happy to mail it seperately. Check this page out.... http://www.dvdrhelp.com/ I think you will like it a lot. I have learned a ton of stuff from it. Take care.
Billy 0 #3 February 24, 2004 My SONY burner will only burn certain discs, I was given 100 DVD's from a friend that he got from a warehouse type place on line,, but they didn't say what type they were, other than "DVD-R" and turns out I can't use them, well neither could he, so if anyone needs ~100 blank DVD's of unknown quality and type, I'll make ya a good deal!! Bottom line is get the best ones that you can afford of the type your burner will work with,, it'll save ya headaches in the long run... that link in the previous post is full of great info on DVD's!! Good Luck... Natural Born FlyerZ.com
Deuce 1 #4 February 24, 2004 My "factory" duplicator can test before recording, and I'm thinking of going that route. I like to print directly on printable DVD's and they run about $1.90. I think the disks look better and the jewel cases can get lost. I'm using Verbatim. I think the home-made DVD media is similar to the first CD-r's that came out for music. Some of the older players, and even some newer players, won't play them. Or play them lousy. The rate is pretty low, but it's real. My stuff is all top-end, but I can't control what the customer is using. If I get a complaint, I check that a DVD will play all chapters on my computer and my G0.Video DVD, and then I send it back out. If that doesn't go for them I offer high resolution VHS and then a refund. JP

docjohn 0 #6 March 6, 2004 I use Verbatim DVD+R. You can buy them at Sam's Club in lots of 30 for around $45 or 1.50 per disk. I use DVD+R rather that -R because I don't know any better and it seems to work on all DVD players. Am I missing something?
