martz 0 #1 February 24, 2004 How many time you use a tape when you shoot tandem ??=============================== Ourson # 5 impatient de sauter #
prost 0 #2 February 24, 2004 I am assuming you are referring to mini- DV tapes. I run a video concession and we fill up the tapes once and then store them for a period just in case there is a reason to go back and get the footage. After that I completely erase the tape and reuse it. Erasing the tape is important or sometimes they will bleed through the old material.
martz 0 #3 February 24, 2004 QuoteI am assuming you are referring to mini- DV tapes. Yes you're right MiniDV, sorry. Do you only use it twice ?? Is it possible to loose quality if I use the tape about 10 times ?? Thanks=============================== Ourson # 5 impatient de sauter #

skychic68 0 #5 February 24, 2004 You know, it is important to save tapes at least for the season. I have found that several times I have needed to go back and redo a tape for someone because they ruined or taped over the first tape they bought. Ilike saving stuff anyway. You never know what kind of footage will be useful for the future or look good on the "best of tape" at year's end.Que sera sera

True but I don't want to keep 100 tandem jump on tape.=============================== Ourson # 5 impatient de sauter #
diablopilot 2 #7 February 24, 2004 Tape is cheap. I never re-use.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
motherhucker 0 #8 February 24, 2004 they say a tape can be re-used 10+ times. I find that re-using a sony tape in a sony Camera will produce digi dropout, which increases the more times the tape is re-used. This happens LESS when the tape is striped, or recorded over with just black. If you've ever tried to capture footage for NLE that has digital dropout on it, you'll see why it's easier to just throw a new $3.50 MiniDV tape in and archive the used one. mh
wingnut 0 #9 February 26, 2004 i save all my tape be it either for a tandem for fun jumps.. i want a record of all my jumps and don't want to have to worry about data loss on a reused tape.... ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"
prost 0 #10 February 27, 2004 Erase - record to it with no input or you can record black with the lens cap on. You can erase them with a very poerfull magnet but I have not tried this method.
diverds 0 #11 February 27, 2004 I am having a hard time understanding why striping the tape would reduce the chance of dropped frames during recording. You are still recording a digital image to the tape, just a black screen. Whats the difference? Skydive Radio
