futurehighflyer 0 #1 February 25, 2004 Whats the difference between PAL and NTSC?
quade 4 #2 February 25, 2004 NTSC was the first color video standard and adopted by the US as well as Canada and Japan and a few others. NTSC runs at 29.97 frames per second. Each frame is made of two interlaced fields with a total of 525 lines. PAL was invented in Europe and is widely used there with the notable exception of France which uses yet another standard called SECAM. See chart HERE for country by country breakdown. See chart HERE for some tech specs (that aren't -exactly- accurate, but close enough to give you an idea). If you live in a country, you should probably buy the standard used there. If you're going to shoot camera for international competition purposes you must have a PAL system, but in reality, by the time you get to that point, uh, it ain't gonna matter all that much -- you'll just get one and it'll be the least of your worries. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
