Apart from the hassle of using sonys software to get your videos from the camcoder to computer and incompatibility with mini DVs, how is the quality of a video? Is it noticeably lower quality than that of Mini DV (for example PC 105). Or is it just the same? I think they both (ip5 & pc105) have 690K actual video. I have no quams about the quality though, it is not really noticable to me, and is certainly good enough to show skydivers.
