sony ip-5 question

Recommended Posts

I have one IP-5 and it cannot firewire with DV´s, but you can record video and sound from DV´s camera using the RCA cable or the S-Video. The quality is the same and you only have to buy some RCA "female" plugs. For editing you can use the Pinnacle 8 or the MovieShaker provided by Sony. But if I had to buy a new camera, I would buy a DV.

The quality is not the same.

It may be close, or good enough, but firewire is a pure digital transfer and therefore 100% lossless. S-video requires a Digital-to-Analog conversion to send, and then an Analog-to-Digital conversion to record.
