damonsteele 0 #1 April 6, 2004 Just wanted to get a opinion from users of these helmets. I'm in the market for a new helmet and these are the pros and cons that I have come up for both: Wes Helmet Pros: Custom fit, impeccable quality, never have to buy another helmet, wide platform for multiple setups. Cons: Cost, not resellable (except maybe to a twin) Bonehead FT Pro Pros: Half the price of a Wes, wide platform for multiple setups, resellable Cons: Still costly ($700), not custom fitted (at least not like a Wes), larger profile. Let me know what you guys think.
diablopilot 2 #2 April 6, 2004 If cost were not an issue I'd own a Wes helmet as well as an FTP. The FTP is a great helmet, the fit is great, the price is right, and the service can't be beat.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. LawnDart21 0 #3 April 6, 2004 I've only jumped a FTP, have about 100 jumps on it. Even with my still and video camera on, it feels great, and it has a chin mounted cutaway system that is ideal for any camera flier. -- My other ride is a RESERVE. AggieDave 6 #4 April 6, 2004 I don't think I've ever actually seen a Wes helmet, could you post a link or a picture just for my curiosity?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

I think Tony Hathaway jumps one (at least the picture on his website looks like a Wes helmet) http://www.tonyhathaway.com I am going for the Flat Top Pro very soon, even though it is not custom fitted, the liner can be baked and it will fit like a glove. jdhill 0 #7 April 6, 2004 FTP... You can spend the extra coin on better cameras or lenses... you could always compromise... get a FTP, with a custom top plate from Wes. chachi 0 #8 April 6, 2004 FLAT TOP Pro dude is all I have to say. Quality is impeccable, custom molded liners to your head. As far as durability I have a FT Pro with about 500 375 jumps on it and it looks exactly like the day I bought it. Amazing is what I think everytime I look at it. ~Chachi
AggieDave 6 #9 April 6, 2004 Thanks! He's got some nice custom stuff besides just helmets, his t-plates and stuff look really squared away.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
freefalle 0 #10 April 6, 2004 I like Wes's Helmets they are a good investment, however I dont have the 1300.00 base price, I ordered a FTP because its what I can afford. Although, when it arrives, Ill be taking it to Wes to mount and allign everything, his stuff is expensive but its good.
skydance1954 0 #11 April 6, 2004 You'll like the FTP, and you'll also find that you will really never need to buy another helmet. I've had mine for 4 years, and I have no complaints about it. Still looks as good as the day I bought it, still fits exactly like a glove. The helment NEVER moves on my head. I've gone through two video cameras and two still cameras in the time I've had it. I suspect that I'll run through several more. With the available real estate on the helmet, I am confident that I can mount just about any camera/flash/accessory combination known to man. The only limit is the strength of my neck. I'll probably end up bequeathing this helmet to my kids, 'cause it'll sure as hell outlast me....Mike Ashley D-18460 Canadian A-
XDV 0 #12 April 7, 2004 I really like my FTP and I not jalous of those who own a wes. See some of is helmet and it's very clean, my con, is the locking snap that could be open by a riser strique and no cutaway. FTP cons should have more that only one external shell
