Advice on Sony Camcorder

Recommended Posts

I fried my old DCR-PC1 when it got wet off the bridge last October. I bought a new DCR-PC330 but it is too heavy for me and my neck. I'm looking at either a DCR-HC20, a DCR-HC40 or a DCR-PC109. These are all Sony models - Sony is my only consideration at this time. Any advice from anyone who has any of these models. I'm leaning toward the HC40 for higher video quality but would rather go with the slightly lighter and cheaper HC20 if anyone could vouch for it's picture quality.

There are already a couple of threads on the "photography and video" forum asking about SONY's spring line up.
I have enough saved to buy an HC20, but am trying to scrape up enough to buy a PC109. We will see if the cash arrives before the rush of tandem students.

if you read up on the sony cameras in the photography forum you'll read tons and tons about how the new pc-109 is not the best choice out there. the pc-105 is soooo much better and if you look hard enough you can still find some dealer's selling them. i'll be ordering my 105 later this week once my paycheck comes in:D

just my $.02

tweeter has pc105s for $698 online and some of their stores have them too. Its nice to just go in a store and buy one.

Better act fast! These are discontinued according to TWEETER. Even the ones left in the store are going to be floor models.

Although, I talked the guy at the TWEETER by me into selling me his last PC105 for $560 + 5yr warranty (249).

I thought it was a good deal.
