Alo1 0 #1 April 25, 2004 Any one using a toshiba "satellite" line laptop for editing. my immediate demand is getting digital stills onto cds for customers but I would love to have a higher end machine for editing purposes as well. Kinda nice on the days when you only have 2 or 3 tndms to video and you have time to be a little more creative. Any input would be appreciated. AggieDave 6 #2 April 25, 2004 Name brand of computer doesn't matter as much as does computing power. The biggest problem with most laptops, is that people don't buy the version that would be good for video editing, its expensive. There are steps that can be taken, as long as the processor is fairly powerful. You can usually upgrade the RAM and you can get an external (firewire) harddrive. Its cheaper and easier to build a machine for that purpose that isn't a laptop.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." And price dropped! iBooks are nice too. I have 1 14" 1GHZ at work...nice little machine and not too much $$$. Firewire and USB2 and the new models will take over a gig of RAM whereas my machine is maxed at 640mb.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

flyinmedic 0 #7 April 27, 2004 I am using a Toshiba Satellite P4 2.4ghz, with 512 mb of ram and an 40gb hd. It has a built in firewire port. I am using adobe premiere pro to do some basic editing.Overall it works fine but at time gets a bit slow. Its not the ideal editing system but it works.
