Is it possible too. . . . . . .

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to dub audio through the port that a MIC would go into on the PC 105. I am trying to set up a portable way to edit and dub audio with the least amount of equipment.

It is kind of hard to put audio on the tape (using the camera) with a portable CD player and dub the tape to VHS at the same time.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for the info.

PS- The picture is from another thread so you can see what port I am talking about.

If this isn't possible, how can I dub music from a personal CD player to the PC 105 while I dub the video + music to a VCR and record it on a VHS tape?

I just want to be able to put music to video and make a VHS tape at the same time. All help would be appreciated.

How are you going to record the music to the DV tape as you are playing it? The camera only does one or the other at a time.

Just play from the DV and record onto the VHS with the sound overlapping for the edit via a Radio shack editing board.

So, if there are three ports on the VCR (1 Video and 2 Audio), I could plug in the Video and 1 audio from the PC-105 and 1 audio from the CD Player and get what I want?

I thought about doing this the other day, but didn't try to see how it would sound.

Question though. Wouldn't the CD Player music only be played on one speaker and the sound from the video be played on the other speaker?

I am no genius with this mixing stuff, but I really want to learn. Thanks for the help so far.

That is a damn good point. See, I said I was no genius.

So, with the mixing board, I would plug in the audio from the CD player and the audio from the camera to the mixing board and output the combined sound to the VCR?

If this is so, would I just plug the Video cable straight to the VCR or is there a slot on the mixing board?

Would something like this work?

Thanks again.

Video directly to the VCR

That mixer would work, but a bit overkill.

Alternatively, if you recorded the footage in 12-bit, you (I believe) can dub a second set of audio on the tape, and 'mix' the levels on the camera at play time. Never done it, since I do everything in 16-bit audio. And I might be wrong about the mechanics.

That being said, I'd just do it with an external mixer.

Dude, whens the next time you're coming to Aggieland? I'll show you our editing setup, you can put together something that'll do many of the same things (using effects from your camera instead of our board) for very little money.

Or you can use your 'puter to do it all and go on with life.B|

yep, and it even works... i do just the same... since i ain't got no laptop, i give the passengers a VHS tape for a reasonal amount of money, which includes a 3 minutes intro (pre-dubbed) and their jump (mixed with music from a portable CD player the way you described it).... but if they wan't a SVCD, they can get it, no problem, but in (max) 3 weeks time with addtional payment....

Get yourself a two audio channel mixer. connect your cam audio cables RCA jacks(red and white) to mixers channel one .Connect your portable cd player audio cables(RCA jacks) to the mixers channel 2. connect your cam video cable(yellow RCA) to your VCR. Connect from your mixer using red and white RCA jacks to the corresponding jacks on your VCR. Always use your cam fader option(normal fader) so you can start recording on VCR with a black screen that will then fade into video. Have cam on pause(black screen) Push record on VCR ,push play on CD player, fade audio in with mixer and push play on cam with remote remote( you can now use slowmotion forward and back as you please.AT end of footage push pause on cam ,fade music out on mixer then pause VCR-- video done(I do this under 10min for tandem video's) Hope here is some help, and not to long a post, cheers better stop
