GeeeeeeFly 0 #1 May 28, 2004 I just purchased a new DCR PC330 ($775). I am strictly using it for my freeflying addiction. I am looking to pick up a BoneHead Da Bomb helmet with it as well. I need to know what lenses I should get. I know that I need a .45 or .42 wideangle for my style of flying. My experiences with still photography back in the day I would have a polorizer and UV protection. Will I need the same for video? And any little extras I might need... Please let me know the consensus from the veteran videographer world... ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
SeaKev 0 #2 May 28, 2004 Where did you find a PC330 for under $800?

As for the Da Bomb what is it's condition and how much? ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"
jose 0 #5 May 29, 2004 Sure hope you get that camera, and if you do make sure its not grey market. Dont ever trust a NYC camera store. If its not too late, I would cancel the order before you get screwed.....

webracer 0 #10 June 2, 2004 I hope you get that 330, but at $775 it sounds like you may have a different model. I paid $1225 for mine three months ago, and I felt I got a great deal. Anyway, I went for the 2K comp. FF2 helmet. It should be here anytime. Can't wait to retire my other cam/helmet. As for the other advice... A UV lens/filter is not required, but is cheap protection for your real lens. I am jumping mostly diamonds though, so I can't even put a filter on them.Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.
billo 0 #11 June 2, 2004 QuoteInfinity Cameras Hey Geee, I hope you get what you intended to... Looks like from their website (http://www.infinitycameras.com/search.php?SimpleSearch=pc330) that they offer 3 flavors of the PC330: $849, $939, and $1399. Don't know where their $775 deal was from. I talked to a buddy of mine who is a full-time photographer before I picked up my PC330, and he said that the big things to watch out for from New York resellers are used items, refurbished items, grey market items, and USA market items. It is pretty easy to understand what used and refurbished are. He said that he is careful with grey market because those products usually do not carry any sort of manufacturer warranty, and you also have to watch out for overseas items that may sneak over (such as a camcorder that is PAL instead of NTSC). USA market items are sold at the highest prices, but are sealed in the box with the original manufacturer warranty. The Infinity Camera site is pretty vague as to what the $849 or $939 version entails, but the $1399 one is clearly labeled as the USA kit, so I am guessing that it is the USA market camera, while the other two are something else. My buddy said that he'll buy lenses, film, and other cheap things on the grey market all the time, but won't make any major grey market purchases. He swayed me enough to go with a USA market PC330, and I got it for $1,122. Best of luck to you - I feel the same concern that i'm seeing others post about for your camera that is on the way, and hope that it works out for you! b
GeeeeeeFly 0 #12 June 2, 2004 I will post what ever I get... At the moment I am in wait mode for delivery... I wouldn't mind if it was gray market or referbished, but I would be pissed if it turned out to be PAL. I was told by the items discription that it was sealed in box. So that lead me to believe it might be hot or something else. But regardless it should still have some sort of warranty. As for Infinity I talked with them but they are not who I originally purchased the camera through. ~G~ "The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over"

webracer 0 #14 June 3, 2004 Most of the great deals are grey market. Some NY sellers also elude to a USA warranty, but when you call and ask, it is actually a USA "in-store" warranty. I have been looking for a 10D kit, and found the great prices were "body only", no battery, USB cables, charger, software, etc... It is unlikely they would give you a PAL model without specifying, but a grey market model may require you shipping it to HongKong for warranty service. Best of luck though, if it works out for $775, let me know and I'll buy another PC330.Troy I am now free to exercise my downward mobility.
