Sight question

Recommended Posts

Does anyone still "see" thier sight anymore?

I was just hanging out over a four way the other day and noticed that I don't see it anymore - but my head seems to know what to do. Is this common, should I be concentrating on the view through the sight more?

I also noticed this phenom. doing student and tandem videos.

I do "See" it when I film anything bigger than say an 8 way.
I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama

Nope, don't "see" it anymore myself either. It's like it becomes part of your routine....like at pull-time you just -know- where the hackey is by muscle memory.

Lori -- you crack me up.

Turtle -- Lori only uses the bezel from a ring sight and not the optics. She does this for safety reasons as she only has sight from one eye. While it would be possible for her to use the optics, it's probably best that she doesn't limit her vision any more than she has to.

I, on the other hand, am keenly aware of the exact placement of of the concentric rings over the target.

I have a site that you can rotate up or down, I have done entire jumps with it up, and realized it after I opened when I went to move it up. No change in the video. I guess after a few thousand jumps on a helmet it doesnt matter where the site shows, you get used to where the helmet points.

Is that because you shoot for video - or shoot for stills.

I have found that the "style" is a bit different depending on what you are after.

I think it's probably because most of the time I'm shooting 4-way and I have a very specific idea of how that should be done. I'm not saying it's right or wrong -- simply my way.

Sheesh..I wish I could do that. Every time I leave my ring sight up, the damn edge of the ring manages to get into the view of my video and stills.

Although you are right about not really using it anymore, I still like the whole "partially tinted" feeling when I look ahead!

On a different note, how many of you are going to WFFC?
Sincerely,
