DEVO 0 #1 June 6, 2004 Hello, Can you tell me what camera you think is better, is one that much better than the other or pretty much the same. Thanks Devo
quade 4 #2 June 6, 2004 Images are identical. Features are not: amount of photos taken in a burst is greater in the 10D as is the rate at which you can take them. "Better" depends on your needs.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
skyfly 0 #3 June 7, 2004 also: 10D body is magnezium alloy, and the D-Rebel is plastic - making the 10D somewhat more steardy, but also heavier (noticeably). some other features, and options existing on the 10D are missing from the D-Rebel.Be Simple, Be Creative, Bee! flyingarab 0 #4 June 7, 2004 I am a canon dealer and fly both the digital rebel and the rebel gII on my helmets. I contimplated using the 10D but the issues I took into account were the following: 1. The pics are going to be the same 2. the 10D is heavier 3. the 10D is much more costly 4. the digital rebel does burst a little slower When I looked at all these (there are more factors but for the most part these were the main ones for me) I went ahead and put the digital rebel on my head. The pictures have been most amazing and I know now that I made the best choice. The 10D is a hell of a camera but is better used on the ground by photographers. The digital rebel is sturdy, reliable, cheaper, and produces absolutely beautiful clear images. As for the burst, well, I do not really consider that a huge factor. I can take about 3 pics per second without any issues and, to be honest, that is all I have needed to capture the shots. I hope this helps. I am currently out of stock on the 10D and have 2 digital rebels in my houston store. If you are in need of one, just let me know. I will be more than happy to sell them to a fellow skydiver at cost.Sincerely, FlyingArab www.flyingarab.com
WFFC 1 #5 June 11, 2004 If you really want to get creative and nulify all the warranties, the digital rebel is the same camera s the 10D, less the heavier body. There's a couple hacks available that enable the features that have been disabled on the rebel. This is not something I recommend.----- ~~~Michael

freakydiver 0 #7 June 15, 2004 Just curious - on the rebel, how long can you burst at 3 a second for?? I've been thinking of purchasing the rebel myself as well, but its a tough choice becuase I do alot of ground photography as well and I do like some of the extra features on the 10d and appreciate the heavier body on the ground as well... Thanks!! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

Thanks!! you just said it yourself, get the 10D then. The 3fps burst is only for 4 frames, then it slows down a little bit, and then around 12 frames it REALLY slows down, to about 1 fps. The above is just something I found through random testing.. Iwan
freakydiver 0 #9 June 15, 2004 But the price differnece oof. I think I could get by with the rebel. It's not like one bursts the whole jump (or do you???). -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

That's what I thought too.. the price difference and the features that were extra on the 10D weren't worth the 500 bucks extra. For the burst, I only use it for the exit shots, and in case of tandems for the opening. Iwan
dragon2 2 #11 June 15, 2004 If you're not set on Canon, try a Nikon D70! Esp. for pics on the ground it is AWESOME. Most of what I've been shooting lately is swooping, the camera keeps up fine. Even the 10D can't beat the fps. The 10D is a great camera too, the rebel IMO is not (see other posts by me why I think so). edited to add: Whoops I see I have a little over 2500 pics already with this camera, having had it 3 months... Still lovin' it!! ciel bleu, Saskia

freakydiver 0 #14 June 19, 2004 Is that the only remote solution for the Nikon D70? I'm big into warranties... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
