Zoter 0 #3 June 23, 2004 Do you have a picture of your camera/helmet setup?
aulbjerg 0 #4 June 23, 2004 QuoteDo you have a picture of your camera/helmet setup? Yes... Its not good... But... I only mounted it to see if the camera worked in skydiving... If its shows to be ok, i wil mount chincup and ringsight....--- BLUES - Jacob D-601, Denmark
Chrisky 0 #5 June 24, 2004 Did you get any help adjusting the aim? Looks like it's pointing slightly upward. You can't tell it from the video at all though, because you don't really have any steady reference point except for the plane for a few seconds which isn't any good of a reference. Have someone assist you aiming by folding out the monitor, zoom in all the way an tell the helper what you are aiming at. He should then be adjusting the mount or tell you, where the camera is aiming, so you can adjust the ringsight. If you plan on filming mostly from a belly to earth orientation, lay on your belly because usually you will slightly tilt your neck and look up slightly for a reference that is on level. HTHThe mind is like a parachute - it only works once it's open. From the edge you just see more. ... Not every Swooper hooks & not every Hooker swoops ... HTH I think its pointing too much up and we are going to correct it... (my rigger build it) The first issue was if the camera was any good at skydiving... Some people says that its only Sony, that works... But thanks!--- BLUES - Jacob D-601, Denmark
neily 0 #7 June 27, 2004 Just my opinion, (I've a Canon MV550i). As said does seem aim high, and slightly dull but that could be the lighting as I saw a big black cloud in the distance. I noticed the focus was a bit slow when changing from a ground view to canopy, I don't know if this is normal for cameras as mine also has a slight delay. But I liked watching a video of a full jump without any music added, just the real thing, wind, woo's and all. But overall I thought the quality was good, images were clear, Gives me more faith to use mine when I have enough experience.
EricTheRed 0 #8 June 28, 2004 QuoteSome people says that its only Sony, that works... Actually several other camera 'work'. The issue has generally been "how long?" they work I used a JVC for a while, and it worked, but would require periodic repair to keep it working. Good luck w/ the cannon.illegible usually
aulbjerg 0 #9 June 29, 2004 I think so too.... It seems like a good camera, but lets see after some more jumps... But thanks to all!!!--- BLUES - Jacob D-601, Denmark
jmfreefly 0 #10 June 29, 2004 Well, it is hard to tell, as the video has been (i believe) compressed, which yields artifacts. One thing though, turn off the autofocus. Right before deployment, the camera focused on dirt on your lens. To me, the camera looks big and heavy. j
aulbjerg 0 #11 June 30, 2004 The autofocus is turned off now... About weight: Canon MV650i: 520g. (18,3 ounce) Sony PC8: 490g. (17,3 ounce) Sony PC101: 565g. (20 ounce) Sony PC330: 540g. (19 ounce) So the weight is about the same as Sony... But you are right in the matter of size... It is a little bigger...--- BLUES - Jacob D-601, Denmark
