freefalle 0 #1 June 12, 2004 when I purchased my 300D, the sales person warned me "be careful when inserting the CF card as the pins in the camera bend easily." Its a known issue, something about the fact that the slot will also fit a micro-drive. I was as careful as I thought I could be, but I recently bent the pins. I took it to an authorized repair center in Daytona Beach to have it fixed. THANK GOD I had the extended warranty. The repair cost to replace the board with the pins was 450.00. It only took 1 week to get it fixed. The same thing happened to Scary Perry but he had to send his off to Cannon to have it repaired because at the time there were no outside service centers I think it took him 6 weeks to get his camera back. Anyway I just thought Id share this info as an FYI.
skyfly 0 #2 June 12, 2004 the CF card slots unlike SD cards / memory sticks (etc) have pins that fit into the CF card. As a warning the sales people always tell you to be carefull of this, this is not an issue with the Canon D-Rebel in particular, but with any CF slots out there. Yes, this is the age of technology, and as things get smaller and more delicate we in return have to develop a softer touch for them. sorry to hear your misfortunate event.
