mewing120 0 #1 April 7, 2003 Anyone have any suggestions for gear bags. I can't really see spending upwards of around $100 for a bag. Ora Vivo
AggieDave 6 #2 April 7, 2003 We've had this discussion before, if you do a search, you'll probably find it. Now, what I use, a duffle with wheels that fits all of my gear (rig, jumpsuits, etc) cost me $25 at Wal-Mart. It even matches my colors. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
mewing120 0 #3 April 7, 2003 I was gonna look at some luggage places, these are the suggestions I want. Thanks Ora Vivo
AggieDave 6 #4 April 7, 2003 Quoteluggage places Then you'll spend WAY too much. If you're willing to spend it, No Fear has a kick ass gear bag (for motocross) that you can pick up at motorcycle shops/online stores. Very big, very tough, very nice.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
CrazyIvan 0 #5 April 7, 2003 QuoteI was gonna look at some luggage places No way..you'll pay a lot for the same bag you can get at K-mart for 1/3 of the price.__________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you.
mewing120 0 #6 April 7, 2003 ah yes, K-mart. I guess I used the term Luggage stores too loosely. No walmart close, but K-mart is just down the road. Ora Vivo

skycat 0 #9 April 7, 2003 I have one of those airline carry on bags. Although I did splurge on one that has backpack straps and waist strap so when I go to places like Lost Prairie where the wheels are pretty much worthless I can just strap it to my back and carry it down the hill. Another option is go to an Army surplus store and find a kit bag, they are big enough to fit a rig and an extra canopy. (we use these to transport gear from the DZ to the loft.)Fly it like you stole it!
AndyMan 7 #10 April 7, 2003 I bought mine at Walmart, it cost me $15. The only downside is that it does not have the logos of gear stores or manufacturers, nor is it in my custom colors. Some people would argue that's an upside, though. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
councilman24 37 #11 April 7, 2003 Eddie Bauer duffle bags, XL $55, gives you good quality at a reasonable price. I use older, simpler versions. One for each rig (3), one for accessories, probably one for jumpsuits and helmets this year.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
rickfri59 0 #12 April 7, 2003 I bought a “Skydiving” gear bag, size large, and regret it. All the neat stuff in the catalogue is so tempting for a newbie like me. I can’t fit everything in it and end up carrying another duffel bag for my helmet, additional clothing, and other “stuff”. The shoulder straps are in a weird position and it’s not comfortable to wear. I’ve seen people toting the rolling suitcases and if I had to do it again I’d go that route. Plus (IMO) a suitcase in your car is probably less interesting to a thief than a gear bag.
darkvapor 0 #13 April 7, 2003 http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=%22assault+cargo%22 Those are some options. You can find those types of bags for like 20-30$ dollars, and they look pretty sturdy. I ended up buying a oversized duffle from www.campmor.com for $13.00 on clearance. But definately dont spend the price for a "real" gear bag.
CrazyIvan 0 #14 April 8, 2003 Check MACY'S, I bought a couple of JEEP sport bags, very sturdy and cool colors, I think I paid ~$120.__________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you.
Brokeneagle 0 #15 April 8, 2003 Got me an old army duffle bag about 8 years ago, think it was all of $8.99 at an Army-Navy Surplus store- still use it, too-Brokeneagle. Chief 0 #16 April 8, 2003 I bought a SCUBA diving gear bag. Holds 2 rigs, 2 jumpsuits and lots of "stuff". Has double carry handle and back pack straps. Three zipper compartments, light padding and very heavy duty. Cost was about $65 (US$).
Faber 0 #17 April 8, 2003 sorry sounds silly taht you dont want to pay the mony to protect your loved gear proberly,i had my gear bag for 3 years now,you cant see it on it... if you buy a 50$bag in k-mart it sure is dead whith in 2 years Stay safe Stefan Faber
jumpy 0 #18 April 8, 2003 Just an old canvas bag from an army surplus store is the way. I use an old one i foung in the closet. The old probelm with mine is that it has a metal teethed zipper so i am extremely reluctant to ever put my canopy in it unpacked. Some thing to think about.. AggieDave 6 #21 April 8, 2003 Yeah, I know what you were saying, I was just trying to say that cost doesn't always dictate functionality. Although, more often then not, you do get what you pay for, not always though. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." jsfreefly76 0 #22 April 9, 2003 I'm not to sure about some of the wal-mart or k-mart bags. It's gonna depend on how much gear you've got. My last wal-mart bag started tearing form the wight in a month, but don't go to a luggage place. Just shop around.
