quade 4 #1 July 3, 2004 Ok, so I was criticizing the USPA for not having enough materials showing the hazards of swooping and it occured to me that it would be a great idea to start a collection of camera flying hazards. Here's what I want to do. I want to collect footage, edit a short video showing the various hazards and then make it available to newbies that want to strap a camera on for the first time. Specifically what I'm looking for are camera flying hazards: premature deployments, camera helmet issues, getting too close to the tandem drogue, mid-air collisions with RW people, getting hit with a sky-board . . . camera flyer -specific- hazards. Got anything?quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Rdutch 0 #2 July 3, 2004 I posted a video here a while back, it had a bunch of me swooping and a bunch of screwed up shit Ive seen shooting video. Malfunctions, premature deployments ect. Maybe not exactly what your looking for but there is some scary stuff in it. Pfreezone has it on his server. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! AggieDave 6 #4 July 3, 2004 I've got first hand video of my off heading opening and someone who didn't track very well...nearly a canopy wrap (if it wasn't for some rear riser action and lifting my legs it would have been). Want that?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

quade 4 #7 July 3, 2004 PMed . . . And ask around your drop zone to see if anyone else would like to donate some footage to this project. You could send me a firewire dub -- keep the original -- and I'll send you back the dub and a copy of the finished training tape when I'm done. Full credit (probably right on the piece of video as it's used) unless you'd like to keep your "bad stuff" confidential. Again, I see this as a no profit video -- strictly training value.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

ryoder 1,590 #13 July 4, 2004 Check out what happens during my deployment here: http://www.dimensional.com/~ryoder/balloon-rapell.mov The helmet is a Sidewinder O2. Left riser caught back of camera box. It was about two weeks before my lower jaw would line up with my upper jaw, and the pain in my neck finally subsided."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. VisionAir 0 #16 July 5, 2004 If you are good friends with either Cajones, Grant, or Adam from Martini Shot Films, maybe you can poke them in the ribs to fix my tape I gave them from WFFC 2003. My helmet came off upon opening shock and fell another 2000+ feet landing camera first on a hanger. Ought to make some good ground rush footage. As soon as I get my tape back I'd be glad to put it in a project like that. Huh?!? What cloud?!? Oh that!!! That's just Industrial Haze Alex M.

piisfish 140 #19 July 6, 2004 he had a metal D handle, and a Tempo reserve, that's why at the end of the video he asks, in Swiss german dialect (if I recall well) : ARE YOU SAFE ?? TEMPO RESERVE RESERVE PAD BTW Rasta is a new bird to add to the flock, he will be soon receiving his S-Fly suit after a dozen of jumps in Empuria... flypunk 0 #20 July 6, 2004 I can get my hands on some footage from this weekend when a 4way participant took the wrong grip and pulled one of his buddies, with the camera guy on right on top of them. Tandem trained, he rolled over to misshin and filmed his opening. So it doesnt really look that scary. lemme know if you are interested. ...

freefallcrab 0 #22 July 7, 2004 Quade - I had a canopy collision a couple of years ago when I was filming 4-way. The other dude was on a high performance canopy so the closure rate was QUICK! Maybe that is the main point that comes out of the vid. The quality isnt great - if I remember right (it isn't a video I watch very often!) I picked up some moisture on the lens at the bottom of the dive . If you think it might be useful let me know. Use your wings Johnny....

quade 4 #25 July 7, 2004 Yeah, that's pretty messed up and I'd use it for an intro to skysurf video, but since it doesn't really involve the camera flyer himself . . . it's not really what I'm looking for in this project.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
