DLB 0 #1 July 13, 2004 Hi all, I've been jumping camera now for 100 jumps and for the first time at the weekend jumped my new digital stills. Not jumped any stills before but got a Digital Rebel (300d in UK) and jumped it twice. To say I'm impressed is an understatement. Camera was set to aperture priority, f8 on auto focus and ISO200. This was using the kit lens set to 18mm. These are some of the pics I got. What do you think? I know some people jump with a Sigma 15mm. This might be something to invest in for close work but at the moment I'm mainly filming FS jumps. Does anyone else use different settings. This is something I'm going to have to play, especially as I'm new to "proper" photography as well. Your thoughts would be appreciated. ----------------------------------------------- "It's always a nice day above the clouds"
vdschoor 0 #2 July 13, 2004 I jump mine with the Sigma 15, but like you said, it's all what you are used to. Instead of aperture priority I shoot in shutter priority (Tv) The reason for this is that in low light conditions the camera might pick a really slow shutterspeed which makes for blurry pics.. instead by setting the shutterspeed the camera will just adjust the aperture setting. I don't shoot autofocus in freefall, it slows the camera down, specially with slower lenses (slower as in autofocus is slower). The only reason I would shoot autofocus in freefall would be if I would take a longer lens up (a 50mm or longer) for special shots. Other than that, nice pics!! mathias 0 #3 July 13, 2004 I use a Zenitar 15mm lens, under 200 bucks but no automation.... Nice picks. I use ISO 100 f 5.6-8 and shutter at 1/320 or 1/400 depending on the light. Manual focus too of course. MathiasIngen minns en fegis!
piisfish 140 #4 July 13, 2004 nice pics, but I'm no expert. BTW how do you like the PAC750XL ?? Am I correct this is the plane you jumped from ??scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
DLB 0 #5 July 14, 2004 It sure was. Cark have just taken delivery of it, so its sparkly new. A couple of things need sorting out - like a floor you can stand on, rather than the slippery one at present. Plenty of rails and steps though and the speakers have given the Tandems many a fun ride to altitude. I know there's been some talk about problems with the low tail for cameraflyers but I didn't have a problem. ----------------------------------------------- "It's always a nice day above the clouds"

mr2mk1g 10 #7 July 15, 2004 Cark had a piston Islander. It used to hire other planes like a Let 410 for busier periods.

mr2mk1g 10 #9 July 16, 2004 Yeah pretty much. Not to be confused of course with a Turbine Islander which can actually go above 10,000ft, doesn't take half the day to get there and looks exactly the same. The Pac is a big improvement for them.
