Jan 0 #1 August 29, 2004 What do most people do with the little cover over the Lanc terminal? Can it be removed, do you rip it off, do you leave it open (and flapping in the breeze)?
freefalle 0 #2 August 29, 2004 You can cut it off but I don't thik thats what most people do. If you are using a camera condom you can just leave it open and close the condom around it. Ive seen other people that have just taken a small drill bit an drilled a hole just large enough for the plug to fit through that way you can just leave the cover on there. docjohn 0 #3 August 29, 2004 I cut it off. Its really hard to do this with a new camera but its a real pain dealing with that flap still attached. I had to butcher a brand new pc-105 to get it to fit in my Sidewinder helmet. Voids the warranty too I'm sure. Just one of the many sacrifices we make to jump cameras BTW, if you cut if off, make sure that no pieces fall inside the camera. Jan 0 #4 August 30, 2004 Well, I'm starting out with a used PC1, so neither the warranty nor "mutilation" are big issues. Don't see any way to keep a part of the keeper from falling into the inside of the camera, though... I kinda like the drilling idea, but I'd have to make the hole big enough for the black plastic part of the plug, right? If I make the hole small, only big enough for the metal plug, it won't go in far enough.
murrays 0 #5 August 30, 2004 All I do to my PC-1 cover is bend it backwards and use a piece of tape to hold it there while I put it into my d-box.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
jimmytavino 16 #6 August 31, 2004 ...ditto.... it just seems wrong to cut the rubber cover off... so gaffer tape it.. flat against the case of the camcorder.... Remember...
