vdschoor 0 #1 September 17, 2004 I am looking for a battery pack to reduce the recycle time on my flash (550EX) and I was wondering if anyone had tried the Canon one, "Transistor Pack E" Or should I just go the whole nine yards and get myself a Quantum battery pack? Zee 0 #2 September 17, 2004 I've never tried the Canon since I don't use Canon cameras but, I have tried a couple of different models of the Quantum battery packs and they all worked quite well. Just be careful how you run the cords from your helmet to the pack. Peace, Z Action©Sports
jdhill 0 #3 September 17, 2004 I've used the "E" and it works fairly well... I can't compare it with the Quantum though, since I have not used it... the "E" is light and and compact, you can mount it on the helmet (which is how I use it). Zee 0 #4 September 17, 2004 That sounds nice - Both of the Quantum units I tried were too heavy to have mounted on the helmet. They fit best on a belt or in a pouch around my waist. The cycle time was freakin' awesome though. I just couldn't justify jumping with that much extra gear for the most part. With new batteries, my flash cycles quite fast so I just spend a few extra bucks on new ones when I want to use it. Peace, Z Action©Sports
diablopilot 2 #5 September 17, 2004 I have a Quantum now and it works much better than the Canon unit ever did for me. If I had it to do over again I'd get the twin output Quantum unit. Oh and I've helmet mounted it just fine. (The Turbo z that is)---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. Zee 0 #6 September 17, 2004 How big is that thing? I can't remember which units I tried - I borrowed them from a friend just to test - but they were both too big and heavy to helmet mount. As far as output goes it's was like pluggin' the flash into a freakin' car battery Action©Sports

You know you could right? Sell me your Turbo Z, and buy yourself the 2x2. I am only going to use one flash, so I don't need the 2x2 I think. Deuce 1 #11 September 17, 2004 A plus for the 2X2 is that is will also power the camera. When shooting ground events, one battery powers both units for high volume shooting.
