Spizzzarko 0 #1 September 22, 2004 Is any one out there using a TRV-85? The new TRV with all the bells and whistles? If so, have you had any problems with it? Do you like it? I just ordered one today. Thanks for your info.
djmarvin 2 #2 September 23, 2004 I have one (if you are refering the HC-85) It is my third Sony camera and I love it. Thing I hate about it, is the fact that everything is different now. New power cables, batteries, A/V plug, memory stick.... so all my old stuff is no longer compatible. Also if you use a Cameye II to turn your camera on and off, it no longer works, it will turn off your camera, but not back on. You can still use it to switch from record to standby and vice versa. The larger chip is definitely noticable and you can see it in the quality. Customizable menu is great for the touch screen, puts those little things you use everyday at your fingertips. The nightshot (without the IR) is not in "green" they are whighter than normal but still in color. Larger lens. If I had to do it all over again I would still purchase this camera. Hope this helps. Spizzzarko 0 #3 September 23, 2004 I realize that I'm going to have to change all of the junk that goes with it, but I guess that's the price we have to pay. I'm rather dissapointed to hear about the cam eye. That thing is the heat. Is sky tools going to address this problem? I don't know what I would do without my cameye? Thanks for the info, and keep it coming!!!
x3mcam 0 #4 September 23, 2004 The CAm Eye issue might have to do with old Cam Eyes? How old is it? In later models the software has been updated, and should work well. Tomppa
jimmytavino 16 #5 September 23, 2004 ....bought the dcr-HC 85 about a month ago, and have been using it on the ground only,,,to shoot some footage and ,,as an editing/playback deck... I skydive with a VX-1000, side by side with my trusty old TRV-7.. then i firewire the footage to the 85 .....sooon though, I will mount the 85 to my helmet.... I am getting used to the touchscreen controls. The playback edit features, from my old trv 20 are all there,, but instead of push button and roller wheel control,, they all require dancing through a series of menu selections.... i'm getting the hang of it The memorystick/ photo capabilities, seem to be good quality,, and the the sticks are compatible with my digital still and my photo printer..... We are planning a night 16 way, this saturday,, ( ALL POPS ).. I just may use that occasion as the reason to take the new camera skydiving...... Who needs zoloft, or prozac, when you can buy 4 times as much beer!!! hahahahahahahahaha
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
