nacmacfeegle 0 #2 September 29, 2004 As I recall, its been discussed pretty much to death here on the forum, its not good news, the format of the video is slightly different from regular miniDV, so you can't firewire footage between say a TRV, or PC cam and an IP7. Digital editing may cause stress as well.-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. EDYDO 0 #3 September 29, 2004 I have been using an IP 5 (very similar to IP 7). It is very compact, lightweight and the videos are of good quality (I think great). As long as you use the A/V jacks to output you will have no problem. It is when you try to firewire to a DV that you find it isn't compatible. I tried doing digital editing and in spite of claims by Pinnacle that their software works with MicroMV, my experience was that it never worked well. There also is no lanc port, so I used a 1/2" round mirror on my altimeter to allow me to see the light on the front of the camera. With this said, I recently purchased a PC 109 to get better digital editing. I think that MicroMV would have been the best way for us to go, but somebody dropped the ball at Sony and they never quite finished the project. EDYDO 0 #4 October 1, 2004 I have been playing with my new PC 109 and my IP-5. I found that while I cannot firewire between them, I can use the S Video cable that came with the IP-5 and S Video between them. the quality is quite good, but, I expect, not as good as firewire. That leaves two reasons for my change over. Most important is digital editing on the computer and of some importance is the lack of a lanc port.
