Sony Camera Products/Questions

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me or direct me to a good website(s) that explain what order the Sony PC camcorder models came out in and roughly when? I'm shopping for a camera and getting very confused as to which are the newer/older models!

I'm probably going to buy used, are there any Sony PC models that I can automatically exclude as being less suitable for jumping with?

I have just acquired a bonehead helmet with a clam-shell style box that held a PC1 size camera (I think) can anyone tell me what the dimensions of this older style camera are - I don't know if I'll need to get a new box to fit certain PC cameras, that could also influence what camera I buy.

Dazed and confused with all these options!

PS. Will be a just-for-fun camera set up initially though eventually maybe used for 4-way or tandems.

Others may know better but I believe the first was PC1, then 3, then5, then7, then9 (which is what I have) then PC 101, then 120.

I think the 5 and the 9 are common types you may find. I think the 101 and the 120 are much smaller than the rest, they require a smaller box.

I got most of my gear from Peir ltd. they were helpfull.

The 101 is one of the smaller types like the 5, 9, and 105.

The 109 is a derivitive of that which is a bit smaller yet again.

The 1, 7 are real old school now and big.

The 100, 110, 120, 125, 330, are all the more modern larger size.

Actually, it starts more like this...

7,10,100,1,3,9,5,110...

Sony, crap at numbers, damn fine at cameras.

Then again, there are only 10 types of people in this digital world. Those that do understand binary, and those that dont...
