TEric 0 #1 October 7, 2004 Hi All! Looking at the following ad in the DZ.com classifieds, and wondering if anyone could offer any opinions on the following deal as a first camera setup. I would be looking at doing tandem video as well as wearing it for freefly jumps. Oh, what the heck, I'd probably just wear it all the time - until my neck starts to hurt!! The helmet should fit me well, but the I'd have to sell off the suit - I'm 5'7, 155lbs. thanks! Price: $750 Complete video setup! Sony TRV-9 Camera, wide lens, cam eye, brandnew Hawkeye helmet (medium, black), lazer sight, brandnew Tonysuit video jumpsuit (C wing, for 6'1" 190 lbs navy blue with bubble wings), case and more! Don't miss this one!
vdschoor 0 #2 October 7, 2004 You can't really go wrong with the TRV9 camera, and the hawkeye helmet is a very nice helmet. The problem with the camera is, how long has it been used for skydiving? If you add up the numbers: TRV9 (new prolly 800 bucks) Hawkeye (250 new?) I have no idea what the Lazer sight is, but say that's 50 bucks. So if you add up the numbers, you are getting a brand new Hawkeye, with an older camera, and a camera suit (count 300 bucks for that at least) So, 250 for the helmet, 300 for the suit, you end up paying 200 for the camera.. That sounds like a good deal, if everything is as good as it is described. Ask how many jumps are on the camera, since that is a good indicator for wear and tear on it... As an indicator, I picked up a used (but in new condition) TRV17 from eBay for 325 the other day... guaranteed no jumps on that one. Iwan
