spencer 0 #1 October 10, 2004 I sold my 10D to a guy who put a sigma lens on it, I only used canon lens on it. he says error 99 keeps coming up. I never had error 99 come up once. I would like to up grade soon. Can anyone shed any light on error 99. Buy him putting a sigma lens on and now error 99 coming up all the time may he have damaged the camera in any way as I have heard once error 99 comes up it's hard to fix and could be costly. thanks Eddie. freefallcrab 0 #5 October 11, 2004 I think Itdiver has given you a link to the many other discussions on this in the past but to summarise my experience I got error 99 when I tried to use the Sigma wide angle lens from my wet film EOS 300, I tried the things that the other threads recommended like taping the battery in etc but what it came down to was the Sigma lens was not compatible with the digital camera. I now jump the 300D with the supplied zoom lens and it works fine so in my case the error was nothing to do with the battery, bite switch, vibration or other things that have been discussed elsewhere. I hope this helps..... Use your wings Johnny....
ltdiver 3 #6 October 11, 2004 That's LTdiver. And yes, the older Sigma lenses cause this problem with the newer Canon cameras. This has been discussed alot here. Someone (can't remember who) discovered that he could send his older Sigma lens back to the manufacturer and get it updated so it -would- be compatible. Something else to consider if you want to keep your lens operational. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
videointhesky 0 #7 October 11, 2004 Do a search on Google.com for ( error 99 on a canon 10D using a Sigma lens) You may get some more information from different photo forums with the same problem also send a email to Sigima & Canon tech support
