Bite Switch for Digital Rebel

Recommended Posts

I tried a friends digital rebel this weekend with the bite switch from a 35mm rebel. Same plug type I assume. I got one picture in the plane and that was the last picture taken. I checked it on the ground and same thing, one picture only.
Another guy uses the same set up and has the same problem. his solution was to put a small piece of rubber band inbetween the post and the hole. that brings the plug out a little. it seems to work just fine with few malfunctions.

it seems a little hokey to me. is there another fix or another way to wire the switch, or maybe a setting on the camera?

You need a switch with a stereo plug instead of a mono plug.

I knew that all along but recently my tongue switch was sticking and I ran upstairs to the gear store and grabbed a new one.. figured out in the plane that it was a mono.. I learned how to use my hand to reach up and take pics in freefall.. I went back to my sticking switch after that..:S

Whats the 2.5mm plug that the conceptus bite switch? Is that mono or the stereo? I use it and have the same problem. Some times i will get 40 to 60 pic other times i get 2. Also what settings are you guys using for you digital rabel. I have found that i can use th TV set at 320 till it gets sunset and then i have to use the sports mode due to the TV usually is too dark.

In my experience it used to be mono but now is stereo.

Just for confirmation, when you order make sure they send you a stereo plug. The mono won't work on the digital cameras but work fine for the 'older' 35mm film cameras. I have both.

If you usually get 40-60 pics, you have the correct switch. What happens when you only get 2? If I have a camera malfunction, it is usually caused by the plug coming out a little..

I use fully automatic on the ground except for my lens which is a manual Zenitar.. In the air, I shoot on tv at 640 on most days and slow it down a little when it is darker..
