Anyone shooting digital and what camera works for you

Recommended Posts

I am looking at shooting digital rather than film but would like your views on which you think would work better now that digital is leading the way.

It's not that I am going to shoot right now cos I am still learning, however I am in the market for a new digital camera and I don't want to waste my money buying two cameras one for now and one for when I start shooting areial.

Thanks in advance

The only way is down.

I use a Canon Rebel and LOVE it -- However as with any technology the price will go down as technology goes up. If you are buying a camera for skydiving I reccomend you wait until you have more jumps and by that time you can get it for less than if you bought it now and sat on it until you have 200-300 jumps.

It all depends on what you want to spend, you already told us that you are not going to jump it for a while, but you're interested just because of photography right?

What do you want to spend? Both the Digital Rebel, 10D and the 20D are VERY good cameras, and if I had to buy a camera now I would go for the 20D (I have the digital Rebel right now)

Reasons? 5fps for 23 shots on the 20D
This makes the camera available almost like a fast film camera, which is what frustrates me sometimes on the Digital Rebel. Just after a burst you can fire the trigger, but you can't be sure you got that shot, with the 20D, you have it, since the buffer is so huge.

This is not only true in freefall photography, but in all photography.

So.. just make up your own mind, and figure out how much you want to spend, but the Canon EOS series would be the only choice I would give you if you want to get into freefall photography later.

and now for a different opinion, I would say to stick with the digital Nikons, even though some of cameras do not come with remote ports or shutter realease ports >:( and have to be modified.

Nikon cameras are a bit heavier, but they are also rugged and robust. They stand up well to the abuses of freefall and such (not saying that canon's dont....)

I currently shoot with a modified D70. Works sweet, pictures are fabulous.

my two cents, that is all.
