Collegiate video Quals

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to find out what the quals are for shooting video at Collegiates. I e-mailed the USPA (competition) about it the other day but rec'd no response.

My questions are:
1) What is the "Setup" Neccessary? (Nationals it was 2 video)
2) What are the vidiots requirements (if any)
. . a) Jump numbers
. . b) Camera Jumps
. . c) Other
3) Is being a college student a requirement?
4) Is there going to be enough beer there?:o:P (they are youngsters you know.)
I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama

The Nationals does not require two video cameras.

It's simply a good idea.

My bad -

Must have been caught up in the "If it is told enough - they will believe it" thing again.[:/]

What about the rest of it?

Ususally video is performed by the cadre of the military teams AF and Army for the two ways. If that is not possible then ground to air video is used. 4-way video is filmed by the teams own video guy or by a military cadre. Sometimes they use the local camera flyers in a pool. Style is filmed in ground to air.

I flew video at Collegiates last year (GT Inviscid and Pool) and will again this year. Last year, video flyers were used for 4-way and 2-way events. I agree with Quade that although not required, two video cameras is best for this or any National Level Competition. Collegiate teams are not required to provide their own video but many do so. Those aspiring to fly video should very competent with FS video skills. It is the resposibility of the host DZ to assemble the video pool therefore, I would suggest you contact Betty (DZO) or Debbie at Lake Wales. You do not have to meet the eligibility requirements for Collegiates to fly video at this event.

Yes, they are youngsters but you must remember that I will be there. Therefore, you can bet your ass there will be enough BEER! :P

Hope to see you in Lake Wales.

HA!

Finally Found it - USPA got back to me - and pointed out section 7 of the comp manual.

It seems that it is better that I don't go - even if I was THE MOST COMPITENT video flyer - which, I know, I am not, shit happens up there on exit - the rules state that if there is a video guy that is in the "Pool" and he hits the formation of gives an "NJ" they get a rejump. BUT . . . if they take me with them, and I hit'em or give em an "NJ" they are SOL.

It would have been fun.:)
