bigway 4 #1 December 5, 2004 is it okay to carry your sony pc105 through a xray at the airport and a slr camera? will the xray do anything to it? and what about tapes and film? Thanks .Karnage Krew Gear Store .
quade 4 #2 December 5, 2004 X-rays will NOT hurt video tape. It's -possible- that the magnetic fields in the conveyor belt motors could, but I haven't heard of that happening for years. Modern video tape needs a -very- powerful magnetic field. X-rays -will- fry your film. No question. If you put it in a lead bag, they'll just turn up the power until they can see through it. Years ago and before 9/11, I used to hand carry and have them hand inspect video tape and film. This is probably not going to be an option for you at this point. I wouldn't hesitate to put miniDV video tape through the x-ray machine, but I'd either have film processed at the location or ship it FedEx.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

DaGimp 0 #4 December 5, 2004 when i traveled to eloy last year, they specifily asked me if i had and film in my bags....if so i needed to hand carry it so it wouldnt go through the x-rays. Cameras, camcorders and video tapes are all ok....like Paul said"Professor of Pimpology"~~~Bolas
