Sony HC40 Focus Question

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have problems with the focus in easy mode on there HC 40, My camera goes in and out of focus. It doesnt do it to much, something like 2 or 3 times a jump and for maybe 2 seconds but i was wondering if that was normal. Maybe there might be a setting i can put it on. I dont know maybe one of you guys might have the answer.

Thanks

Dan

yea I agree it sounds as if you are using the camera in the Auto focus mode that will make the camera look for something to focus on.
Set the camera for manual focus then focus it to infinity (on my pc100 the mountain symbol shows un in the screen) then tape the focus ring in place and you should be good. If your using a wide angle lens do all this with the wide angle lens on

Put focus on manual and set to infinity. that should solve the problem.

Unless you have ultra wide lens on it.

Then put focus on auto, point the camera at the object that's far away and while it's pointed there set it to manual and leave leave the focus where it is. everything should be sharp.

that's how i do it...

I have a HC40 and have found that in Easy mode you cant have manual focus. As a result I just shoot in non-easy mode to keep the focus set to infinity.

I tell ya what, let me know if you figure out how to jump the HC40 in easy mode but with manual focus

Focus on something that is a good distance from you, across the yard, at least 100 feet or more. That should give you an infinity focus where everything from a couple feet from you to that distance or further is in focus.
