Recommend a good video camera

I'm in the market for a camera so I can one day be half as great a videographer as some of you are. (Yes, I'm sucking up so I can get some straight answers.) I need feedback on features or brands I should look for or stuff to avoid. Also where to get the best deal would help.
Please help me reach my fondest dream of writing off skydiving on my taxes.

-1- read the Camera Flyer FAQ at the top of this forum
-2- do a forum search
-3- get to at least twice your jumpnumber
-4- search some more
-5- get a Sony
-6- have fun

The type of camera depends upon the helmet and style of jumping you intend to video...

I fly camera with FF & BirdMan, but I've also done a couple of tandems (I suck at RW) - the Sony PC 109 was a perfect choice for an L bracket on my Bonehead Mindwarp (sounding like a commercial)...but if I was doing tandems as my primary and had to do stills, I'd want a flat top of some kind...making sense?

Best thing to do is ask one of the video guys(or gals) to come along (without a camera) and lurk them on a jump...if you like what you see - great, if not, at least you know without dumping the $$$ into gear you didn't need...(Anyone need a camera jacket?)

BTW: I DJ'ed for about 23 years...looking forward to meeting you in person at some point - maybe I'll see you at the Marco Island Boogie.
