kosanke 0 #1 January 25, 2005 i bought a 25mm bite swt and trying to adapt to a t3 terminal on my canon eos 1n camera. i understand that the digital canons have a t3 terminal also. anyone have this problem. Thanks, Tom
lewmonst 0 #2 January 25, 2005 You can radio-shack it or buy one of these. The canon digitals, 10D and 20D have the N3 type plug. There isn't such a simple solution for adapting a bite switch yet for these with one adapter... And you meant 2.5 mm, not 25 mm. peace lewhttp://www.exitshot.com
kosanke 0 #3 January 25, 2005 thanks, i'll order one tomorrow. Tom
kosanke 0 #4 January 26, 2005 Lew, i need your help again. i bought a t3 connector and tried the 2.5 bite swt with no success. does the camera have to be in a certain setting. i'll try and call conceptsus tomorrow.
lewmonst 0 #5 January 26, 2005 Really? That's odd. I don't have that camera, but according to the specs that adapter should work with this which is the remote shutter for all the more common Canon film cameras we jump, the Rebel and Elan, etc., which all work just fine with the conceptus. I'm interested in hearing what Conceptus says... What kind of mal are you having with it, does it not fire at all, or does it fire continuously? peace lewhttp://www.exitshot.com
kosanke 0 #6 January 26, 2005 i tried to email concepts and got a poor reply that did'nt deal with the problem, so i emailed them back. would be easier to just call and go over this on the phone. in the meanwhile, i am going back to the camera shop and they will troubleshoot the adapter along with the switch. i might just say the heck with it and get a canon eos 20D. does it have a female receptical for the swt or do i need an adapter. any fedback on the 20D for this use. Thanks, Tom
lewmonst 0 #7 January 27, 2005 Interesting indeed. The 20D does not have the 2.5mm jack nor is there an appropriate adapter. It has the same plug (N3) as the 10D. I've been having trouble with my radio-shacked switch that worked fine on my 10D with my old conceptus. I thought I had just shorted the soldering job from the 3 wire N3 adapter to the 2 wire conceptus... I actually just tried the RA-N3 to the T3 to the conceptus, just for kicks before I went back to radio shack, and that didn't work. And I tried a new conceptus, and that cause it to fire continuously... So I'm not sure what's up. I think I'm going to have to make a new switch from scratch. Keep me posted on what you find out. Sorry I wasn't more helpful! peace lewhttp://www.exitshot.com
lewmonst 0 #8 January 28, 2005 Ok, I found out that the T3 remote adapter with older EOS cameras has to be used with a 2 stage switch, which the conceptus is not. And on the older EOS cameras are not programmed to know what to do when both the focus and release are triggered at the same time, which is what the conceptus does. Newer cameras are, the rebel, elan etc... So, you will probably have to rig up your own switch for that EOS. I would like to here if Conceptus has a solution to this. peace lewhttp://www.exitshot.com
blazetailman 0 #9 January 28, 2005 I wrote a tutorial on wiring the cinceptus to canon cameras on my site under the tips section. wireing for full time autofocus, you combine 2 sets of the wires. This might be the solution. Give it a try just by splitting the wires, stwisting them togeter and using tape as a temproy hold as you experiment. Hope it works... http://www.petergallistudios.comwww.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
kosanke 0 #10 January 28, 2005 thanks. i got an email from concepts.i tried theswt on 2 rebels and 1 worked and the other didn't. on my 1n I had to snip the conectors and hard wire in order to work. I connected the red and white together and seperated the white on the canon adapter. IT WORKS. do you have the same trouble with the 20D as i am thinking that down the road i will go digital? thanks again to you and lew. Tom
blazetailman 0 #11 January 28, 2005 Glad you got the problem solved. Now prove it and go jump it and show us some pictures. I beleve the 20d will work like the d60/10d and have little problems. I feel like I'm falling behind in the arms race. I had one of the first d60s and now the 20Ds are all over the air.www.canopyflightcenter.com www.skydivesac.com www.guanofreefly.com
