mwabd1 0 #2 February 12, 2005 OK, what size PC, how much memory, and what is your budget? ......and by the way I just bought a new MAC today! ........I hereby reject your reality and instead choose to insert my own!
NathanL100 0 #3 February 12, 2005 PC is tiptop; 2G ddr2 memory P4 3.4. Budget Umm... well I'd like it to be as cheap as possible, but Avid and Adobe are like what 900 - 1300 so I guess I can afford that if I'll never be limited by the capabilities of the software (within reason).Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself. NathanL100 0 #4 February 12, 2005 I'm leaning towards the Adobe Pro bundle, but if I'm going to spend that much on the software I think I'm going to take a class on non-linear video editing cause thats a lot of money to spend and not know how to use it.Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself. mwabd1 0 #5 February 12, 2005 Well if your budget is big enough that you can afford the Adobe pro bundle than there are several Adobe users who can chime in. I started with a cheap $100 program to learn the basics of non-linear editing and I just switched to a Mac and now I am going to use Final Cut.

If you can afford a PC, you can afford this little gem. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
Zoter 0 #7 February 12, 2005 With a PC setup....I'd go with Premiere, you will need an XP OS Mac....obviously Final Cut Pro I scratched around using several other PC editing Programs before using Premiere.....yes it is a 'little' daunting when you first load it if you have limited or no editing experience, but what you can do with a little learning (and playing) is really only limited by your footage, imagination ......and availability to Adobe After Effects. I have not used it much for DVD Authoring.....used Encore a bit, didnt like it .....so use Sony DVD Architect and love that.
quade 4 #8 February 12, 2005 Quote ...and availability to Adobe After Effects. After Effects, while nicely integrated into the Adobe line, is available for use with -any- NLE. In fact, if you're willing to spend some cash you can purchase a translation program that allows you to import just about any timeline from just about any NLE -completely- into AE. While my work currently doesn't require this, I've seen it used by others and it's truely amazing. Do a rough cut in AVID, for instance, including dissolves and speed effects and such, then import the entire shebang (footage, effects, notes...everything) into AE for your graphics for finishing. Amazing. Check out Automatic Duck.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
