Lee846 0 #1 February 12, 2005 Guys i need you advice. I'm pretty sure it was discussed before but... I've got Sony PC104 and it's always broken. First time i broken it in BASE jump going "hand held". I mean camera was in my hand and opening was pretty hard. It caused the screen and camera opening... And the little... tape with some micro cheep on it (i don't know the proper name of that detail but i think you understand me)... inside the camera was cutted by the ejecting mechanism. Some specialists fixed it... but it happed again... I was told that the distance between that sensitive detail and ejecting mechanism is too short and every crash that happens if my opening is hard or if camera hits the ground for example will cause that problem. Does anybody experienced such problem or it's jums about me? Could you give me some advice about the "heavy-duty" camera? I'm about to sell my fresh-fixed camera to some person who 'need it to film his beloved family's'. And i really want to film my basejumping friends not only from exit-point and i need... bombproof Between two evils always pick theone never tried
pope 0 #2 February 12, 2005 Quote i need... bombproof If you truly want a tried and true "bombproof" camera, I'd look into getting a GSAP. No instant gratification, but they really can take great shots. Anytime you "hand-hold" a camera on a BASE jump you're risking the well-being of your camera... At least look into a camera condom or other kind of sheath for whatever camera you end up with. pope
Lee846 0 #3 February 12, 2005 Thak you Pope, i'm truly impressed! I'll think about it.But i suppose some training in camera-jumping are required for that equipment. And i still want to know if anybody has such problems with PC104. Faber 0 #4 February 12, 2005 Lee i can tell your problem, and say to to solve it.. As you visited me and you jumped handheld cam i noticed that your cam were INSIDE your hand... i know you said it were ok and you can manuver as you like, however i have 2-3 things about it... 1. the first thing youll try grab things whith is your hand, having the cam inside takes the cam on the wrong side of your hand which the risers can hit.. 2.I dont agree whith you that you can use your hand as good as if you didnt had your cam there... I will strongly advise you to put it outside on your hand(YES make a glove),it will give you better chances to correct offheadings and it shouldnt stress your cam like it does now.. all the above is if you still jump the way you did as you were here. Last advise is to drop by anytime your near here again i had great fun and i should say hello from Lene and the kids aswell Stay safe Stefan Faber
Lee846 0 #5 February 12, 2005 Stefan, it was done that way just 2 or 3 times... One hard opening was enough for my poor camera. So i didn't have an opportunity to do more camera-jumps.I want to avoid this problem in future as soon as the camera positions which may make piloting more difficult. Hello ti your family. I'll be in Europe soon but for terminal stuff. thanks for your care Between two evils always pick theone never tried
bob.dino 1 #6 February 13, 2005 If you're after a glove, Waycool make a number of different models. The HC Pro seems to be the one for a PC-style camera, and they recommend it for BASE.
