ccowden 0 #26 April 25, 2003 I totally agree. I had a Hornet 135 and weigh 175. The Hornet didn't like that at all!Now I am flying a Sabre2 120 and it flys and performs like a dream and surfs very well! I guess that is the difference between the Sabre2 and Hornet. skymedic 0 #27 April 25, 2003 Chris..I was giving my opinions on a hornet I used to own. I am now a happy owner of safire. as far as the brake line issue I had flutter on mine until I let my brake lines out. hence the reason why I stated that. it was not meant as an insult in any way on your knowledge of canopy's or on the sport. As far as colored packing tab's this is a good thing to have for newbies in the sport who are new to pro packing...once again more advice for the person who asked about hornets. this had nothing to do with you. as far as the snob issue that was not directed necesarily at you...that was a general term...as there are alot of people who diss PISA without much knowledge of there products. once again this isn't necesarily aimed at you. ccowden 0 #28 April 25, 2003 No worries mate!I was just in a bad mood last night when I read that and took it too personally. I think the bottom line is, you can't load a Hornet much over 1:1 without giving some things up. A Sabre2 will accept much more. I never jumped a Hornet at 1:1. pringles 0 #29 April 25, 2003 If you are looking for a Hornet you may want to call American Skydiving systems. 1-800-769-6064 Ask for J Michael. I was just on the phone with them the other day and I think they still have some hornets around. Tell him I sent you. cuchulinn 0 #30 April 25, 2003 Hey All.. I need to defend Hook on this one, AS you can see on his post, he was commenting on a line I had in my original that was ment as a joke and an open invite to for myself to get slammed a bit. He quoited a line in my original post that is no longer there, I removed it for just that reason than many might not see the sense of humor in it. Hook did and responded, but he dud at the same time I was deciding to remove the line from the original post. He's not being harsh by any means, he was merely kidding. He was just to fast in is reply, I had my original post edited within minutes of posting, but he beat me to it. I't all good, nothing harsh about it! Sorry for the confusion! cuchulinn 0 #31 April 25, 2003 Thanks Jessica, As it turns out it looks like I am also getting a Sabre 2 170. I'll compare them both! Yes, Hook was kidding, I never doubted it for a second! (he knows that too!) :) SMA#

cloud9 0 #34 April 26, 2003 I can honestly say I had no issues with my Hornet 150 loaded at about 1.4 as I stated before it would fly circles around a Sabre.(I've never flown a Sabre2) It had plenty of lift on the bottom end, in fact it would pop me up at the end of the flare. It did have fairly heavy riser pressure though.
ixlr82 7 #35 April 26, 2003 ***Well, yes I let the brake lines out and yes I am educated on canopies. I am not sure why "out diving" the Sabre2 is a plus or why colored packing tabs are better, (unless you are using it as a training tool, and of course it packs smaller- it has about half the stitching! --------------------------- Looks like you are the one throwing jabs. I have been pleased with my Hornet. A more experienced jumper let my brake lines out about 2 inches and the buffeting problem was gone. I learned to pull the slider back toward the nose before wrapping the tail and now my openings are fine. I will withhold judgement on 'surf-ability' until I jump a Sabre, not that I can swoop anyway! The packing tabs...hell yes, they are great for us "newbies". The canopy packs easy...I don't know about the 'stitching' issue, perhaps you could enlighten me why this is a concern. __________________________________________
b1jercat 0 #36 April 26, 2003 HI, I just bought a saber2 from ralph, but at the time he starts yaking about how much I'd save buying a hornet, so he has them in stock. BTW the statement that hornets don't fly well above 1.1 is a lot of hooey. My buddy just picked one up and he loads it the same as I do mine which is 1.35 Hearsay of the week (saber2 is a copy of the hornet) as told to me by a nameless master rigger.blue skies jerry
PhreeZone 20 #37 April 26, 2003 For the last time.. the Sabre2 is not a copy of the Hornet. The trim is different, the planform is different, even the airfoil used is different. A lot of canopies are designed at that target matket so they all fly similar, but none are a copy of each other.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
