frenchcloud 0 #1 April 24, 2005 ok, after editing video with several different software, i have come to the conclusion that the bundle imovie, idvd... included in ilife are what i like the most. no crash, no capacity problem in the middle of editing. i have decided to buy a powerbook i could carry around with me and edit and burn dvds for tandem videos. i ve been looking for a month here and there on ebay. my observation is, no real good deal. powerbooks are way too expensive for me! so i m thinking about buying any kind of PC. my question is: i am so used to imovie, idvd that i really want to keep working with it. is there a version compatible on PC? and for those who edit and burn too, is it really better to get a powerbook or is a good PC going to be as efficient and reliable? thank you for your remarks and information. -------------------------------------------------- The tongue is NOT only a tool for speech! freeflydrew 0 #2 April 24, 2005 if you factor in the additional costs that go along with buying a pc, buying editing software, you might as well buy the mac... There isn't a cross platform version of imovie or final cut. Also, stop looking in ebay for an apple portable... buy new, buy the extended warranty. It's worth every penny... velocityphoto 0 #3 April 24, 2005 I love my powerbook and have considered going back to pc because they are cheap .But just can't do it because pc's are so much trouble with viruses and spyware and all the other headaches that go along with it ! And come to the conclusion, IT AIN'T WORTH IT!!!!!! Buy a powerbook ,15 in at minimum size screen at least .. A friend will bail you out of jail , a REAL friend will be sitting next to you in the cell slapping your hand saying "DUDE THAT WAS AWSUM " ................ jumpy 0 #6 April 26, 2005 If your only planing to edit with imovie then really you could get away with an ibook.. would save you a few bucks... BUT if you can afford it get the powerbook cos then you could upgrade to final cut pro if you wanted to. On an ibook you'd have to get more ram for it to run at any great speed.. Macs are the shit man! Especially for video editing. Never had one crash on me editing.
