ast4711 0 #1 April 24, 2005 Hi there, I bought a used PC330 for skydiving. The cam is perfect shape and showes no obvious damage. However, what really disturbs me are vertical shadows when looking against light. In the attached Image these violett shadows are easily visible below the windows. The image is taken with a .5 with skylight1B but the effect is also visible without any additional optics. I realized that the shadows are only visible when using sports-mode with a higher shutter speed. All other modes are unaffected. Is this common to the PC330/350 or could this be repaired? EricTheRed 0 #2 April 24, 2005 My 330 does not have this problem. I did have a olympus still cam that did something similar, the tech I took it too said bad imaging chip was the problem.illegible usually
newshooter12 0 #3 April 24, 2005 the way it looks to me is that it's "tearing" where the light is strong. with the iris opened to expose the inside of the plane properly the light coming in through the windows is overexposed & over loading the sensor. you get the same thing when you happen to get any other strong light source like the sun with consumer grade CCDs. matt
ast4711 0 #4 April 24, 2005 Well, my old PC3 never showed this shadows. In this aspect the older PC3 did a much better job... Eric: Did you ever repair it, and do you remember the costs? alex -- www.tandemmaster.net www.skydivegear.de
JumpHog 0 #5 April 24, 2005 Both my TRV-30 and my PC-330 do this. If you turn off the sports mode, this will disappear. Unfortunately, it is simply the nature of the cameras and cannot be repaired.
EricTheRed 0 #6 April 25, 2005 The camera belonged to one of my previous employers. I left it with them so I don't know if they fixed it (unlikely).illegible usually
jose 0 #7 April 25, 2005 Yup, sports mode did this on my PC120. Turn it off and it goes away.
ast4711 0 #8 April 26, 2005 thanks for all replies... I have to see what the results are using the standard-mode (sport-mode gave me some great shots with my pc3), and maybe you will find the camera on ebay someday :-/ alex -- www.tandemmaster.net www.skydivegear.de
