oiseau60 0 #1 April 25, 2005 Hi to all i got different bits of info about different softwares used to capture from the miniDV cameras to our computer around different threads here and other forums. But i would like to know what would be the best software to do that? i use Premiere Pro to do that but every now and then i have glitches with it, depending on the situation, especially when i have to capture long sequences. what would be your thoughts on this? thx
tqsmile 0 #2 April 25, 2005 I have also used premier and find that you can do a lot but the programme is slow and render time can take ages. I now use Pinnacle9plus. It is very user friendly and you can also do a lot with it. I have been editing skydive videos for about 2 years using Pinnacle and find it easier and quicker with good results. You must also remember that your computer must be able to run whatever programme you use. Look at the minimum requiremenys they advise and go a step better. Zoter 0 #3 April 25, 2005 If you have a PC.... Use Windows Movie Maker ... It comes with your PC ( or is free to download) and is as good a quality as the capture functions on dedicated editing software programs. The only drawback is that you need to save it as .avi or .wmv files....but thats not a big issue really...most peeps work with these files types as the 'source' files anyways
bob.dino 1 #4 April 25, 2005 Quoteis as good a quality as the capture functions on dedicated editing software programs. That's because there's no reencoding. All you're doing is taking the data-stream from the camera (via the firewire port) and putting it into an .avi file. The video obtained from any capture program should be identical. Barring bugs, of course . Windows Movie Maker will work just fine, as will winDV, Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere Pro, etc.
Zoter 0 #5 April 26, 2005 I have used at least 6 different editing software programs on at least 3 different spec machines.... My personal opinion here is to keep it simple... I have had 'problems' in the past capturing using Prem.Pro's capture tool......now thats a quality and expensive program......you would be a little peed off if it didnt do exactly what you wanted on the capturing front because the program is resource heavy I merely suggest that Windows Movie Maker is FREE and is as good for capturing as any other program out there......and the fact that its not an all singing all dancing program means its LESS likely to cause problems with your hardware/system resources. tcnelson 1 #7 April 28, 2005 you can buy a copy of ulead video studio 9 for about 80 bucks and it works great. you get a whole lot more than using freeware and you don't have the premier pro probs."Don't talk to me like that assface...I don't work for you yet." - Fletch NBFT, Deseoso Rodriguez RB#1329
