imdskydiver 0 #1 April 25, 2003 I am looking to get a new pilot chute with a freefly handle ,A jim cazer pilot chute is not an option for reasons that i will not get into , so I am looking for the smallest pilot chute i can get down to 22" , Mirage sells a 26" zero P and RW sells a 25" Zero p, Can anybody tell me if the RW freefly handle is compatible with the Mirage and does zero P produce more drag than a f 111 . It's generally a good idea to go with factory replacement parts; you'll have no worries about it working or not working that way.

skybytch 273 #4 April 25, 2003 QuoteMirage and Atair have different issues to deal with when it comes to pilot chutes Just to muddy the water even further, the following is from a recent letter sent to Sunpath dealers - Quote We do not condone the use of ZP main pilotchutes, but recommend the following F-111 sizes 28" for RSK, RKS.5, NJK, TJNK, TJNK.5, OJK and 33" for J1KS, J1KL, J2K, J3K, J4.5K, J5K, J6NK and J8K. They also recommend that only Sunpath manufactured parts be used on Sunpath containers (Javelin and Odyssey). IIRC, PD recommends F111 pilot chutes for their mains. Does any of it - size or fabric - matter? I don't know. I do know that my 28" zp pilot chute does a fine job of pulling my Spectre 170 out of my container. YMMV. jumpy 0 #7 April 27, 2003 Take this with an ENORMOUSE grain of salt but what I HEARD..... is that a zp pc is similar to a bungy pilot chute in that at low speeds it jumps around in the wind where as an f111 pc does not as the air can go through it. I'm unsure how true this is but at the time is seemed to make sence.... Once again really big grain of salt (ie. one that will only fit in your garage )
