Solid State Video Cam-corder

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any recomendations for solid state cam-corder. I have my P101 in my camera helmet and use it for jumping but have been looking at getting a digital camera for general non jumping use. More and more have video recording features. Are these any good?

I like the idea of having a camera that records video and only having to carry one piece of equipment around. I've been looking at the Sanyo VPC-C4. With a 1 GB card you can get 60 mins of mpeg4 video. Any thoughts on this? Would it do for capturing general everyday footage do you think?

Too much is never enough!

All right scud?

well, the tests that i read about it, said that it is complete crap for video making... it produces too pixelated picture of movement, and in poor light conditions, the picture is, well, poor ;) so, if you will not use it for paying customers, than it would be ok (but only ok, nothing else...), if yes, it is definetely a no go camera...

IMHO

edited: sorry, didn't read your post well enough... damn... stupid me... well, the tests also suggested that it is not good enough for every day filming, especially in poor light conditions... but then again, there should be more detailed tests on the internet www.camcorderinfo.com

The time for solid state is not now.

I predict there will be a good memory based vid cam within two years max. The tech is there, just waiting for Sony to make enough ROI on their DV cams before they introduce the next great thing.

Patience.

Withstands continuous vibration (20g) and shock (50g)

That looks nice! Just need a good lens and CCD to feed it. It dies look a bit bulky though and also need a battery pack.

It won't be too long before someone puts the whole package together and shrinks it down to a nice manageble unit.

Till then I'll keep jumping my PC 330...

I hope so. I really like the idea of a solid state recorder. I just hope they don't load it with crap like an in built MP3 player, PDA and cell phone! It seems all electronic consumables these days has extra crap built in which you ultimately pay for but never use.

Too much is never enough!
