brentster 0 #4 June 10, 2005 I have one, got it at vanns.com for 500 free shipping. It's SMALL (size of a pack of smokes) and it works well. The video quality is nowhere near DV but is definitely good enough for use debriefing/coaching. Both the built in lens and the remote lens are about "normal" aspect ratio as compared to my old sony DV unit. Meaning that flying slot, you don't get everthing youd like, but if you back off 5 feet you'll get the whole jumper in frame. Nice thing is it's Digital Memory only - no tapes to rewind. It comes with 512MB memory and that'll get you about 10-12 minutes of video, you can add more via Pro Sony memory stick. The battery is good for maybe 5-7 jumps, but charges quickly. All in all I like it, but wouldn't use it for video that I need high quality for. But for the price and size I give it thumbs up.
Whorl16 0 #5 June 10, 2005 Thanks for the reply. I understand that the remote lens doesn't have threads for a close-up attachment which has been a major complaint. I was curious if one could be attached in a different manner and might try. A friend at my DZ purchased one, but didn't like it and got HOSED by Best-Buy upon returning it. 15 % re-stocking charge. I appreciate your input..Quote
 Sylvain 0 #6 June 15, 2005 It's not skydiving oriented, but there's an interesting review here (the video is funny ...) : http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/09/technology/circuits/09pogue.html?ex=1275969600&en=162068ff95e40e96&ei=5089&partner=rssyahoo&emc=rss -- Sylvain
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
