clever_critic44 0 #1 July 18, 2005 Has anyone heard of the Photographer David Gaz? He was a really good photographer turned director. He recently directed this off the wall dark comedy called Icemaker. What do you guys think about creative people crossing over into different genres. newshooter12 0 #2 July 19, 2005 i haven't heard the name, but how do you mean crossing into different genres. the photographer to director transition isn't all that uncommon. after all it is somewhat logical of a progression & being creative will help you get into any project you're working on... not just one genre you start in. Peej 0 #3 July 19, 2005 Agreed. And in my industry (advertising industry) we're seeing a lot of creative people crossing over into film direction too. Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky
clever_critic44 0 #4 July 19, 2005 What I meant was David Gaz was a photographer and then he switched into the direction of being a director. I know both genres are apart of the creative process but to me they just seem like they are at two ends of there own spectrum because Gaz's work in photography is more light hearted and it when it came to him directing his film Icemaker it was so dark. newshooter12 0 #5 July 19, 2005 i was taking your use of genre to mean that he was going from light hearted stuff to darker stuff. as far as the jobs go they are pretty close to each other. in most cases photographers are their own field director so you get a good dose of what it takes to make something bigger. matt
