mikeat10500 12 #3 May 1, 2003 Viking Cool pics...those are real toggles too! The gear looks to be in good shape. Can't wait to see pics of it in the air! ( if you are not ready to jump it I'll bet someone else would like to try it) ...mike ----------------------------------- Mike Wheadon B-3715,HEMP#1 Higher Expectations for Modern Parachutists. mikkey 0 #4 May 1, 2003 Looks great! Oh those memories Now go and get it checked and tested and be a man - jump it ! You will look like a real hard "manly" parachutist and women will flok into your manly arms I still have my 30 year old french parachutist helmet (looks like the old motorcycle helmet from the 60's). I would borrow it to you for your jump if you weren't on another continent. And don't forget to wear "jump boots" for those roundie landings (but cover the "hooks" with tape so that those long lines can't catch) --------------------------------------------------------- When people look like ants - pull. Viking 0 #6 May 1, 2003 LOL If it checks out and i can find a way to put it in modern gear i would consider it. I might have to find a vintage jumpsuit and old army boots to make the "old gear" thing completeoh and yes ZigZag those are the original rubber bands! Aside from one that broke when i pulled the main out they are all in awsome condition!!! not tacky or cracked at all! mikkey 0 #7 May 1, 2003 "LOL If it checks out and i can find a way to put it in modern gear i would consider it. " No, no - come on - the rig looks in great shape - use the original. If you do not have a reserve canopy, I am sure you can borrow a round reserve somewhere to put into the chest container. The mini is a safe system - just practise the capewell cut away --------------------------------------------------------- When people look like ants - pull. When ants look like people - pray. mikkey 0 #9 May 1, 2003 Bad excuse... ladyskydiver 0 #13 May 1, 2003 Cool pics! I would be interested in hearing what a rigger thinks of it - if it's still in good shape, etc. And, if you find someone to jump it (or you decide to jump it), I want to see pics. Life is short! mikkey 0 #19 May 1, 2003 great pics! Looks exactly like when I first started in the 1970's I assume the lemoigne type on pic 4 is the russian version of the Pap/Para (called UT-8 or something????) --------------------------------------------------------- When people look like ants - pull. AndyMan 7 #20 May 1, 2003 Quote image 4 looks like a Papillon! sweet! IT could also be a Para-Commander, which if my history knowledge is correct, pre-dated the Papillon. However, being in the formet Soviet Union, it is probably a Soviet made Para-Commander knock-off. But that's just my guess. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. sundevil777 102 #22 May 2, 2003 That sure looks like a low jump run for students. Viking, Be real careful with the those hard cones. Might want to consider converting it to soft cones, but I know you probably want to keep it in the original configuration. Also, have an old rigger check out the slop in the capewell pivot, the rivets can require a touch with a hammer to be sure they can rotate under a side load, such as when both sides don't get released at the same time. You should also consider not looking at the ground when landing, the chances of pulling up your feet too early are quite real. Your dad is probably already making sure of all of this. I can picture it now, looking over the para-gear catalog in the early '70's, thinking, "I gotta get me one of those mini system rigs, it's so tiny, everyone else at the DZ will wish they had one!"People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
Viking 0 #23 May 2, 2003 actually my dad knows next to nothing about the the system. He bought the rig for $35 back in 79 i think from someone and never jumped it. It has been in his closet since the day he bought it. Now what are you talking about when you say hard and soft cones? I did notice while messing with the release system that one was much harder to pull down than the other.
