Any experiences with "refurbished" sony cams?

Recommended Posts

I bought a refurbished trv 11 and had nothing but problems. Now it's a glorified battery charger. There is a loose contact somewhere that intermitently turns the camera off and on. Very annoying in freefall.
The firewire port was also damaged.
Be careful spending any money on a refurbished camera.
I personally would'nt do it again.

Shit. I guess I should have read this a half an hour ago. [:/] Here's hoping I don't have the same trouble with the refurbished camera I just bought, or if I do, it manifests itself immediately while still under warranty.

Has anyone ever bought or used one of these refurbished sony dv cams from an outlet store? I would like to hear about your experience with one of these, good or bad. I saw a sony HC42, refurbished for $449..... new currently $599 (usd)
Thanks for your replies in advance.

I saw a new (not refurbished) HC42 yesterday for $475, so $449 isn't that great a price for refurbished.
