butterflyboy 0 #1 September 13, 2005 I am a beginner jumper who is about to start jumping camera. I am wondering if any one can give me some advice on the best way to mount all the gear. I currently have a cookie helmet, sony pc100 video and a connon eos50 stills camera. I could easily mount the camera on the side but I have been advised that top mounting is a much safer alternative. and I am also not sure about the type of ringsight to use and if to go for a tongue or a bite switch
bob.dino 1 #2 September 13, 2005 You'd do better asking this in the Photo & Video forum. There's plenty of good advice available in there... And, if your profile is correct, does Don know you're planning on putting video & stills on your head with less than 80 jumps? 'Coz according to the Op Regs, you need both a C licence and DZSO approval: Quote5.9.A.1. A parachutist shall not carry a camera during a descent unless he or she is the holder of at least a Certificate "C" and has the approval of the DZSO. quade 4 #4 September 13, 2005 I have a couple of recommendations listed in the FAQ at the top of the photo and video forum. Might be worth a look at.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
YahooLV 0 #5 September 13, 2005 Don't even think about putting a camera on your head until you have at least 200 jumps minimum. Camera flying is an art that takes time to learn....if you get involved in flying camera and forget the the ground is rushing up...bad news. You need WAY more skydives before adding cameras. You need to be able to handle emergencies, and alternative situations before you even think of jepardizing your life for the shot. Grow old in the sport....not the opposite.http://www.curtisglennphotography.com
