AndyMan 7 #1 October 8, 2005 How often do you do it? Do you do it yourself, or take it to a service? Has anyone damaged their camera doing it themselves? _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
2pac 6 #2 October 8, 2005 Hey AndyMan, Try this: www.photosol.com They have everything you need for your digital pet I used it and got excellent results, all those dots are gone after you wipe you CCD with the swabs on which you put a few drops of the ECLIPSE liquid. BTW. What town is that and what building, and how high is it, and is there a chance to jump from it 2pacwww.slobodanpad.hr www.skydiveadria.com
PhreeZone 20 #3 October 8, 2005 DON'T do it! I just totaled my camera by cleaning the sensor. Turns out the the second PEC pad I used was'nt totaly lint free and it put a scratch half way across the sensor filter. The camera is currently at Canon for an estimate but quotes were from $300-500. At that cost it makes more sense to get a new camera. Talked to the camera store that sold me the parts and they said that if I had them do it and they damaged it they would have paid all the repairs.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
linestretch 0 #4 October 8, 2005 I've done mine several times. Maybe I've gotten lucky, but it get's spendy to have someone else do them. And it adds up. 50 bucks a shot gets old..... BUT, on the other hand, replacing the sensor sounds like it's more spendy. I'll keep cleaning mine.my pics & stuff!

I just bought the "Eclipse" fluid (which comes with PEC PADS) and before subjecting my camera's sensor to either I got on this forum and did a search. Thankfully I read what others had written and clicked on this link from photosol.com. READ THE YELLOW WARNING IN THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE FRAME. PEC PADS are -not- for cleaning the sensor! (even if they -do- come with the fluid. They are only for cleaning the lens.) Get these Sensor Swabs which are (gasp!) $48 a pop for 12 swabs. I'm ordering mine today. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I haven't had any problems...yet. I know I'm probably playing with fire, but oh well. Not problems at all yet......yet.my pics & stuff!

PhreeZone 20 #8 October 8, 2005 Correction, I used PHSOL sensor swab's Type2 at 4.99 each. Cord Camera walked me through it and swore it was the same thing that they use when cleaning a sensor. I'm about to say fuck it and just wait on stills again for another year at this pricing. No matter what goes wrong they'll fix it (or replace it with the next model up). I -had- sent it to them for cleaning (just before Nationals) and it came back just in time. Alot of the grit was gone but 3 major dots remained. I -could- send it back to them (and have it take 2 weeks again to get back to me) or try and clean it myself. Whichever way, I'm covered. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
