After the FF2 and a new DVD camera I just need something that will do the job. HELP! Quick question... you bought a DVD camera? or did you mean miniDV camera? Just check if the camera takes a remote control to take pictures, thats a minimum requirement. Personally.. If you can't afford a good camera right now, hold off and save up until you can.. cause you're going to want the better camera anyways.
Miami 0 #3 October 14, 2005 I don't think any of the Coolpix line have a wired remote...save up a little and worst case buy a used 300d. I really hope you mean mini-dv instead of dvd camcorder, if not I hope you saved the receipt (if you plan on using it for jumping anyway). I'm thinking that is probably the case as 2K does not make their FF2 for any of the dvd line of cameras.Miami

The mini DV camera will work fine for you, regarding the still camera, you can go either Canon or Nikon (depending on what you already had...) If you already had a Nikon SLR, go Nikon (the D70s is VERY nice) If you already had Canon, stick with that and get the Canon Digital Rebel XT or the 20D (depending on what you want out of your camera) If you're on a budget, look for a used Canon Digital Rebel (the older model) If you're just starting off with flying camera, stick with just video first, before adding stills. Stills is a whole different ballgame. Start of working with just video, you learn about framing, distance to your subject and all that.. after that, add the stills Iwan
birdynamnam 28 #6 October 14, 2005 Not true... look here :http://www.harbortronics.com/ - they add remotecontrol features to Nikon Coolpix cameras
Miami 0 #7 October 14, 2005 Hmm, guess they do...I stand corrected! Now what about a shutter release button that will plug into that serial port? I'm no computer whiz but I assume the 9-pin port has 9 little wires all bundled up together...most remotes I've taken apart have 3 wires.Miami
birdynamnam 28 #8 October 14, 2005 Not necessary if you go buy the Digisnap 2200, it connects to hand remotes and the normal conceptus tongue and bite switches... http://www.harbortronics.com/detail.php?id=
Miami 0 #9 October 14, 2005 Ahh, I see...thats a pretty bulky setup for a still remote though...Miami
birdynamnam 28 #10 October 14, 2005 Agree. Anyway its still nice that you can get remote triggering functionality for cameras that doesn't enable it out of the box. I use it and it works great.
